WHEN GRACE IS EXHAUSTED ................

WHEN GRACE IS EXHAUSTED ………………

I call to memory that faithful day in the year 2006, as I was sharing with my immediate younger brother the need for him to surrender his life to our Lord Jesus Christ, highlighting to him in accordiance with the scripture, the danger of living a sinful life and following the evil ways. After, a while he asked me a question which initially was complicated question for me to render an instant answer. Knowing him as a philosophy student who can hardly be satisfy with an answer, I was reluctant to answer the question.

“ If, all you have been telling me about the danger of sinful life is true, why is it that the sinful ones and the evil doers prospers even more than the so called believers ( Born again)”. As I was struggling in my heart for the answer, the Holy Spirit spoke expressly to my heart, He said: TELL HIM THAT IT IS JUST THE GRACE OF GOD THEY ARE STILL ENJOYING, ALSO TELL HIM THAT TIME SHALL COME WHEN THEY SHALL EXHAUST THE GRACE UPON THEIR LIVES IF THEY FAIL TO REPENT. Tell him that, when the Grace of God upon their lives is exhausted the will begin to pay dearly for their sins.

Now, Beloved brothers and sisters, may I ask you a serious question, While you still wallow in sin, What if the grace of God upon your life is exhausted? Do you even know that to every human created on this planet earth is aloted some proportions of God’s grace. Do you also know that the more you abuse this grace the more it deplete and can actually be exhausted one day.

After the disscusion I began to search the scripture to know if this message actually has biblical back ups. I was actually touched when I came across the words of prophet Issaiah.

Let us quickly visit the book of prophet Isaih

Now will I sing to my well beloved a song of my beloved touching his vineyard. My well beloved hath a vineyard in a very fruitful hill:

2 And he fenced it, and gathered out the stones thereof, and planted it with the choicest vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and also made a winepress therein: and he looked that it should bring forth grapes, and it brought forth wild grapes.

3 And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem, and men of Judah, judge, I pray you, betwixt me and my vineyard.

4 What could have been done more to my vineyard, that I have not done in it? wherefore, when I looked that it should bring forth grapes, brought it forth wild grapes?

5 And now go to; I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard: I will take away the hedge thereof, and it shall be eaten up; and break down the wall thereof, and it shall be trodden down:

6 And I will lay it waste: it shall not be pruned, nor digged; but there shall come up briers and thorns: I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it.

7 For the vineyard of the Lord of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah his pleasant plant: and he looked for judgment, but behold oppression; for righteousness, but behold a cry. (Isaiah 5 : 1 – 7)

Here, prophet Isaiah in a poetic form likened the house of Isreal to the garden which the owner has done all that is required of him to do to the vineyard, yet while the owner expected a good fruit, the garden gave out bad fruit instead. ….. “What could have been done more to my vineyard, that I have not done in it? when I looked that it should bring forth grapes, brought it forth wild grapes?” (Vs 4). A time actually came when the owner of the garden got fed up with the garden. Now hear the owner of the garden spoke in the following verses:

“And now go to; I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard: I will take away the hedge thereof, and it shall be eaten up; and break down the wall thereof, and it shall be trodden down:

And I will lay it waste: it shall not be pruned, nor digged; but there shall come up briers and thorns: I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it”.

I have come to realize that why many people have hardened their heart and paid a deaf ear to the salvation message is because they are taking the grace of God upon their life for granted. They often think that it is their smartness and brilliancy that is seing them through .A young boy who have been living a sinful life of fornication may after testing negative to HIV test, think that it is because he was playing safe, so he will be motivated to continue his sexual exploits. He fails to aknowledge the fact that many of his contemporaries has been playing safe yet, they fall victim of the infection. Young man, hear the voice of the HOLY SPIRIT: “

IT IS JUST THE GRACE OF GOD THAT YOU ARE STILL ENJOYING.” What about you a criminal, murderer, cheat, lier, adultrer, etc. Do you think you are smarter than other who have been caught?

Hear what the scripture has to say about this:

“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance”. 2 peter 3 : 9.

God simply allow you to get away with those numerous sins and devilish act because He wants you to come to repentace. God hate sin but, He loves you as His son and daughter.

Apostle paul Sternly warned the people of Corinth not to take the grace of God in vain:

We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain. (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)” 2 corinthians 6 : 1-2.

In the same manner I have not come to judge but I am persuaded to seriously warn you NEVER TO ALLOW THE GRACE OF GOD UPON YOUR LIFE TO BE EXHAUSTED!!! Remember "when grace is exhausted, men began to pay dearly for their sins".

REPENT! REPENT!! REPENT NOW!!!
